Zumba

Zumba fuses Latin rhythms & easy-to-follow moves to create a fitness program that features interval training sessions designed to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.  Burn calories as you dance your way into fitness!

Zumba Gold is specialized for the active older adult population or true beginners.

Zumba Toning blends body-sculpting techniques & specific Zumba moves into one calorie-burning, strength-training class.  Instructors use weighted, maraca-like Zumba Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and build strength.

Turbo Kick

Turbo Kick® is a full body workout that includes higher paced intervals, easy to follow combinations, & kickboxing specific strength/endurance training created to maximize weight loss!

Tone and Tighten

Tone and Tighten will help you sculpt and firm up your whole body! Join Personal Trainer Megan Nolan for this new class that uses free weights, bands and your own body weight to target all of your major muscle groups. Tone and Tighten is a great workout that burns lots of calories; strengthens and defines your arms, butt, and abs and will help you look and feel your best!

Muay Thai

Muay Thai  is a combat sport from Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques like punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes.  As your physical strength, coordination, and stamina develop, you will improve your determination, patience, and self-control.   You will see overall improved sense of well-being,  a well proportioned body,  speed up your metabolism, decrease in fat and increase in muscle. 

Pilates

Pilates is a great tool to teach body awareness and help incorporate good posture and form into your everyday life.   It is a safe and highly effective way to stretch, strengthen & streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints which caters to people of all ages, all body types, and all fitness abilities.  

 R.I.P.P.E.D

R.I.P.P.E.D stands for Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, Endurance, and Diet.  Using resistance and cardio training, R.I.P.P.E.D will help you attain and maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe, doable and extremely effective.

  2. These classes sound fabulous. I do however have a certain amount of limited disability concerning my feet, ankles, knee, shoulders and neck-all skeletal. Which class should I begin with? I am very strong, in decent shape just with the pudge covering it up! Would love to participate! Thank you! Carolyn Ackerman

    • Please seek the advice of your physician. Classes may be watched from the benches outside the Wellness Center windows so you can see which classes are good for you.

  3. Are the prices monthly or by semester? What level are the yoga classes? Any dance classes offered? Mahalo for contributing to Maui’s good health!

    • Aloha,
      All prices/fees for the Wellness Center are by Semester. Ex: If you are a Public member, you would pay $70.00 for the entire Fall semester which lasts from August 26, 2013 to December 20, 2013. The Yoga classes are considered to be at the beginner level – basic positions, movements and breathing techniques are incorporated in the class. As for dance classes, we offer Zumba which combines dance and fitness together to help strengthen and tone the body. Please let us know if you have any additional questions and we will be happy to answer them for you. Also, on our webpage – if you click on the Photo & Class Description tab you will be directed to a full description of the classes that we have offered at the Wellness Center.   4. Where is tone and tighten on the spring 2014 schedule? It’s not there.

    • Aloha Anne,

      Tone & Tighten will be unable to run this Spring 2014 Semester at the Wellness Center. Megan is unable to teach Tone & Tighten this semester due to a scheduling conflict, although she is still able to teach Yoga, which is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:00 p.m. We also hope that you are able to enjoy the additional classes that have been brought in this semester!   5. If I sign up now for the remainder of the spring semester, do you pro-rate the fee or will I still have to pay for the entire semester

    • Aloha Kelli,

      Unfortunately we are unable to reduce the fee. If you are unsure of the classes or unsure of the commitment you are able to drop in for a rate of $5.00 per class. We encourage that you become a member because we promise that it will definitely be worth your money.
