Doesn’t this look familiar? It should. It is that standard food pyramid that has been taught to generations on how much of each food group we should be feeding our bodies.
Although, due to healthy food avocations, the food pyramid has been altered just a bit… Take a look at what the food pyramid has become currently today…
Meet the Food Plate.
Instead of the six tiers of the food pyramid, the food plate contains the four main (and most important) groups that you should be eating daily. The focus more on even proportions of each group instead of going “up” the pyramid as before with each proportion getting smaller, the higher up you go. Protein sure does get more attention with the food plate then before with the food pyramid, and sweets and oils have been cut out completely.
Make sure that you are staying healthy and fit by sticking to the food plate guidelines when planning your next meal!
